WA Song of the Year Competition

"Music talks about mental health, so can you"

The Mental Health Commission is proud to sponsor and support the West Australian Music Industry Association (WAM) Song of the Year (SOTY) Competition to raise awareness of the benefits of music for mental wellbeing.  The SOTY competition is an annual event that attracts hundreds of entries from local musicians.

A concert and awards presentation ceremony is held during Mental Health Week at the Fly By Night Club in Fremantle. There are 14 categories, including Mentally Healthy, School Age, Outstanding Regional and Outstanding Indigenous

WAM runs inclusive song writing workshops in conjunction with Catch Music. Catch Music is a network of musicians supporting people with a disability or mental illness to pursue their love of music, and in so doing to meet and connect with other members of the community.

For more information about the competition, visit the WA Music Industry Association.
