Mental Health Commission
The Mental Health Commission was set up in March 2010 with Australia’s first Mental Health Commissioner. It is a key step in implementing mental health reform and places Western Australia with the international leaders in mental health service delivery such as Canada, Scotland and New Zealand.
We are responsible for policy, planning and purchasing of services which is unique in established mental health commissions worldwide. However, we do not provide direct mental health services.
Our vision is:
- where those experiencing mental health problems are supported to live successfully in the community
- if specialist mental health service intervention becomes necessary, it is responsive, respectful and high quality
- for everyone to work together for the mental health and wellbeing of all people.
